We have a full range of learner windsurf gear including boards, sails, rigs and life jackets* plus there are a number of people in our club who are experienced windsurf instructors.

Annual membership to our club as a Windsurf Cadet including use of our learner gear is $80/yr for adults and FREE for <18yrs.

Our Learn to Sail Open Days and Cadet Club days are casual, informal events run by club volunteers on suitable learner days from September through to April - tide and weather dependent.

*Please note, we do not have any wetsuits so you may like to bring your own for spring or autumn sailing, or just to protect your legs when you’re learning.

Foil Coaching & Gear Hire

We have a GA Hybrid Foil, a foil board and suitable rigs available to hire with the support of a foiling coach for lessons, guidance and safety.

Please use the form here to request use of our windsurf foil gear with coaching included.  One of our experienced foil riders on the committee will get back to you to arrange a suitable day and time which will be tide and weather dependent.

Use of our foil gear with the support of a coach is $60 per hour.

Prior windsurfing experience is essential* – if you are already comfortably sailing then you will be good to go! If not then please ask us about getting some coaching to get to this level.

*Your foiling coach will double-check your windsurfing experience to ensure you get the most out of this experience.

Wing Foil Coaching & Gear Hire

Gaastra & Tabou NZ run a mobile shop and gear hire service offering three different options for people looking to hire a wing foil, depending on your level of experience as follows:

1. Wing Only = $40/1.5hrs

   • Get familiar with the wing on shore, learn how the wing moves and how to keep yourself and your gear safe before you go out.

2. Wing + Fin Board = $80/1.5hrs

   • Practice getting up onto a buoyant board with a fin before moving up to a full wing foil board, and become familiar with the basics of flying the wing while moving.

3. Wing + Foil + Foil Board = $120/1.5hrs

   • Full set up for those already familiar with wing foiling and some existing experience.
