Tauranga Windsurfers.

By Windsurfers For Windsurfers.

A group of us got together in 2018 to incorporate our club and gain affiliation with Windsurfing New Zealand in order to get insurance for our annual windsurf event, the Tauranga Harbour Jam.

Since then we have been more focused on supporting the development and growth of our sport in Tauranga for the benefit of all our sailors and those interested in taking up windsurfing, foiling or wing foiling.

In 2021, we started leasing space in the Kulim Park Boat Shed which is where we keep and loan out a wide range of learner gear as well as race gear and our BBQ for our casual race nights.

Growing Our Sport.

Through the funds raised at our annual Tauranga Harbour Jam and the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, we are now able to more actively grow the sport of windsurfing in Tauranga.

Our club offers a number of activities throughout the year, including:

  • A BBQ gathering at Kulim Park to kick off the season

  • Casual and informal Learn to Sail days run by club volunteers

  • Free use of a wide range of learner gear for anyone wanting to give windsurfing a try or wanting to improve their skills before buying gear themselves

  • Casual and informal racing events run by our members

  • The annual Tauranga Harbour Jam event including shared buffet meal on the Saturday night and beach BBQ breaky on the Sunday morning

Supporting Our Future.

We actively work to support those new to the sport as well as everyone currently windsurfing, foiling or wing foiling.

We offer FREE membership to anyone under 18yrs who currently lives in the Bay of Plenty region plus offer FREE Learn to Sail days to help people take up windsurfing or improve their current skills.

Our members all support each other by letting each other know when and where they are sailing through our Tauranga Windsurfers Messenger Group (or the Tauranga Windsurf Cadets Messenger Group for our learners) plus keeping an eye out for each other on the water.

A massive thank you to the students from the Public Relations Writing class at Waikato University Management School who put together our annual report for 2023 - Jane Eyre, Kayla Buzeika, Rohan Cano-Prasad and Kathryn Knipe.
