Summer 2020 was our first year running our TWI Club Learn to Windsurf days at Kulim Park Boat Shed. This was largely thanks to the generosity of Tauranga Yacht Power Boat Club (TYPBC) for the loan of their windsurf school gear plus the support of club volunteers to deliver lessons and support our fledging group of Tauranga Windsurf Cadets.

Our cadets group grew to 15+ people with a core crew of 4-5 regularly attending when the club was open and the learner gear was made available.

In return for the use of their gear, TWI Club offered to support TYPBC by delivering windsurf lessons to school groups attending the yacht club water confidence courses through the year.

The TWI Club windsurf school has also been able to improve further through the generous donation of gear from other members as well as an on-land teaching platform built and donated by Tim from Gaastra & Tabou NZ.

At our recent AGM, we have now identified additional gear requirements as well as options for our cadets to either join TWI Club or make a donation if they wish to show their appreciation for the use of the gear and lessons.

Please contact us if you have:

  • any spare accessories such as UJs, outhaul & downhaul rope or bases

  • an intermediate windsurf board

  • sails, masts or booms that are still in a reasonable condition
