Wing Winner Takes Up Winging

Darren is now keen to take up this exciting new sport!

Congratulations to Darren! The lucky winner of our Tauranga Harbour Jam 2022 Prize Draw for a brand new 3.5m Gaastra Cross Wing.

Winging or Wing Foiling is now the fastest growing sport here in the Bay, if the growing numbers on the water are anything to go by. More and more are transitioning from kitesurfing or surfing plus a number are taking it up as another option to windsurfing - versatility, small gear and fun on the waves seem to be the main reasons locals are getting into winging.

So when Gaastra & Tabou NZ generously donated a brand new Gaastra Cross Wing as a prize for our annual sailing event this year, plenty of people were hoping for the win as an excuse to take up this new sport too!

Only Early Bird entries were eligible to go into the Prize Draw with the lucky winner announced at the Saturday night dinner at The Raft.

Darren was obviously stoked to have won and is now eyeing up wing foil boards too.

TWI Club is now looking to also purchase a Wing Foil set-up to further support this sport and help people learn to wing. You can also contact Assault Boardriders for lessons or ask about their “rent to buy” option.
